Thank you, thank you!!

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who voted for us in the Wedding Channel blog awards!! It is always so encouraging to know that you guys think this blog is helpful, because I pour alot of myself, my time, and my energy into making it as great as it can be! Although we didn’t win our category for The Best Budget Wedding Blog, we did get the honor of being named Editor’s Pick for our category for the 2nd year in a row!! I couldn’t be more thrilled! :)

Check out my fancy little award!

Special congrats to our friend Dana of The Broke-Ass Bride for winning the title of Best Budget Wedding Blog!! You rock Dana!!! We are more than honored to have lost to your Bad-Ass Broke-Ass!!

Congrats to all the other winners in their respective categories as well. My dear friend Ashley of Nashville’s own Ashley’s Bride Guide took home top honors for Best Regional Blog!! Knowing Ashley over the last two years has been an inspiration- I’m so happy to see that she got some recognition for all her hard work on ABG!!

You can check out the full list of winners for each category here. But the contest isn’t over- one of those blogs will be named The Best Overall Wedding Blog and they are all in the running to win $1000 to Amazon.com! So go vote for your faves!!

The Knot’s My Real Wedding Awards

So I submitted my wedding for The Knot’s ‘My Real Wedding Awards’ back in June or July and kind of forgot about it until now. I logged into the Knot today after I received an email alert from them to see that voting has started (and has been under way for over a week- oops- I’m a little late in the game!) I navigated to our entry page to see this:

In case you can’t see it, that tiny orange text under Eric & Jessica’s Wedding… yeah, that says Editor’s Pick! Talk about humbling! If you’d care to do us a solid and place a vote for us, we’d be much obliged. :) That yellow box where you have to type the illegible and hard to read words is how you vote.  Winners in photo categories will have their photos published in The Knot magazine. How amazing would that be? There are other grand prizes that I’m not eligible for due to the fact that I submitted my wedding months and months ago, but being in The Knot would be a dream come true- a real wedding in a national bridal mag that cost $10k?? How fab!

Click the link below to go to our page and place your vote! :)

My Real Wedding from The Knot and The Nest.

Thanks as always for reading, and for your support. You can vote every day until March 21, when they will choose the top 10 finalists. :)

So I promised myself that I wasn’t going to get involved in another contest, not after the way the last one turned out- and I was right to have stayed away! It got me all riled up last night! LOL As I said in my previous posts, I knew I couldn’t win the grand prize and there was nothing on the line for individual categories besides bragging rights so what was the point of fussing over it? I left my sticky post up about the contest at the top of my blog and went about my merry little way. :) I definitely didn’t want to badger people- sending mass emails, updating my facebook status like 100 times, twittering incessantly about it- like I did with the last contest because I knew it wasn’t worth it. I spent alot of time voting for my friend Amy of Relentless Bride (who ended up in 2nd, but won her category!) because she was actually in the running for the grand prize- she was one of the top contenders as far as votes were concerned- AND I knew she and her future hubby could really benefit from the trip as they hoped to use it for their honeymoon. The race was neck and neck yesterday and I was voting for her like crazy… I hadn’t really even paid attention to my own category so when I realized I was ahead I was like, ‘score!’

Then after dinner last night I checked my category again and realized the gap had been closed a bit between me and the 2nd place blog… that’s when my fiercely competitive side kicked in. ;) I voted like crazzzzzzzzzy for a good few hours and then made E get in on the action, but in the end I was surpassed at 11:59 PM- they snuck in just under midnight! I know if I had promoted and asked more people to vote it would have been different, but I just didn’t want to get as involved as I did in the last contest. :( In the end, I am still honored to have been nominated by one of my actual readers-Miss Sarah!- who said this about my blog :

“Jessica shares with brides-to-be how to have a fabulous wedding on a small budget by sharing tips that she discovered during her own wedding planning process. I love how she shows picture-by-picture how she does a specific project (ie. her invitations)

In this link — />[ http://thebudgetsavvybride.com/2008/09/01/asking-my-bridesmaids/] she explains how she made the cards that asked her bridesmaids to be in her wedding party…and it’s easy to make!

I want this blog to win because she is THE budget savvy bride and she’s shared a wealth of knowledge with her blog viewers and after recently being married, I’m sure she’d appreciate winning this!”

Thanks again Sarah for your sweet words. :) But while I’m here, I want to wish big congratulations to Ashley of Bride on a Budget! I think we both really showed our competitive sides last night- it’s obvious we are both very proud of our blogs and want to get some recognition for it! But it was a fight to the finish and she ended up the winner! Ashley has been a loyal reader of my blog for a while… so head over and give her some love at her blog, Bride on a Budget! :) Follow along as she plans her pink and green wedding!

I was excited to see that WC showed not only shared the list of winners, but also did an ‘Editor’s Pick’ out of every category, too! I am honored to have been chosen even as a nominee, so when I realized they had chosen me as their Editor’s Pick I was pumped! I hope that they give me a little badge to display on my blog, because that would just be super. :) You can go here to see the list of all the winners.
