My craft project for the last couple of weeks

img_5967

I’ve been a tissue paper flower-making machine lately. With help from my MOH and sister, and even E! I’ve successfully completed one pomander, and enough flowers for 2 or 3 more. Almost half way there. It’s a time consuming project- but making the flowers is so mindless. It’s something good to do while you’re watching TV at night. I’m pretty happy with it for my first attempt, though it’s a little lopsided in person… I’m not too worried about it though. :) I followed directions from Vintage Glam’s blog here. How are your craft projects coming?

  • Looks great! I hope to do this project myself – now I know it’s possible. :)

  • Amy Amy:

Very pretty! I don’t notice it being lopsided. Chances are no one else will either and it doesn’t show in pictures (which is how you will look back at it and remember it.) Which I doubt in 50 years you will look back and see mistakes only hazy perfection. Your wedding is going to be gorgeous.

That looks great! I’m currently working on these paper flowers for centerpieces: http://vintageglamblog.com/2009/02/10/diy-tuesdays-paper-flowers/. Mine don’t look quite as professional as those in the pics, but I still think they look pretty darn cool. I wasn’t planning on going the DIY route until our florist told us that our original plan was not even close to being within our budget. Sigh. Oh well, I’m hoping our guests see these and think “wow” rather than “hmmm, they must have had budget issues.” I’ve done 8 dozen so far, and I’m going strong!

Where are you using those? On the chair at the end of the aisle?
I like it. It looks real professional.

  • They look great. I just finished a couple of paper flower arrangements in vases. Mine looked lopsidded too. But the good thing about tissue is that you can mold it really easily. I keep seeing these pomanders around – I might just have to add them to my list!

Those are spectacular! Congrats on a job well done!

My good friend and husband made all the rose centerpieces for their wedding and they were very very pretty tissue paper roses. I didn’t know they were not real till I touche one (leave it to me to be nosy)!

Keep up the great work & hang in there!

    Best wishes!

  • I adore those but found them way too late in my wedding game to attempt… I always figured I’d make them for someone else and now one of my best friends are engaged! Thanks for reminding me… Yours looks just perfect!

I am making this as part of my decor for the wedding aisle. My bridesmaids are also carrying these down the aisle.

  • Kari Kari:

So THESE are what you have been twittering about! I LOVE them! And I’ve been looking for something to dress up the aisles during the ceremony. We aren’t allowed to use real flowers, and I am not a fan of the bow. This is perfect! It came out great too!!! Btw, awesome pic too. :O)

  • Liz Liz:

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
    excellent job :)
